We know that our residents deserve something ‘Extra Special, Every Day’, and our Homemakers focus on the tiny details that make this happen.

More than care assistants or healthcare assistants, Homemakers are carers, housekeepers and companions all in one.

What do Homemakers do?

Homemakers care for our residents in the way a family member might care for someone in their home.

Being a friend or companion

Homemakers get to know people, spending quality time and acting as a friend and companion. Whether that means doing something they enjoy with them, like baking or watching their favourite TV programme, or just sitting and keeping them company.

Assisting residents with personal care

We provide residents with as much or as little assistance as they need. From helping to get dressed, and supporting with self-care, to taking residents to our wellbeing and beauty spa, Homemakers help residents to look and feel their best.

Helping to keep rooms looking their best

We don’t do timetabled, task-based care. We trust our Homemakers to take care of the small things that make a big difference. From rearranging cushions to cleaning up small spillages, Homemakers make sure rooms are always welcoming.

Administering medication

Homemakers are trained by our Nurses, and work closely with them to administer medication and monitor the health of our residents.

Promoting an active lifestyle

Whether it’s keeping in touch with family and friends, or organising trips out, Homemakers help residents to keep doing the things they like to do.

Working with our nurses

Our expert nursing team is onsite 24-hours a day. Homemakers work closely with nurses on clinical aspects of care, and nurses provide mentorship and support.

Homemakers act as carers, housekeepers and companions all in one. It’s a more varied role than other caring roles and is focused on each individual’s unique needs, rather than repetitive tasks.

Often healthcare assistants, care assistants and domiciliary care assistants find they don’t get to spend enough time with the people they care for to make a real difference. Not as a Homemaker. You have fewer people to care for, so you spend more time with each, meaning a more fulfilling role and better care for our residents.

We have a unique culture for continuous learning. We will support you with all the training you need, including NVQ qualifications and further clinical training if you want to specialise in areas like dementia and nutrition.
